Peace begins with us: children are making history!

Imagine this: last year, over 3,200 children from 67 countries gathered in the legendary “Artek” camp – and achieved what once seemed like a dream!

In 2025, young people from different countries adopted the first-ever Children's Declaration of Peace – and Russia has already presented it to the United Nations General Assembly!

But did you know this isn't the first time children have become ambassadors of peace? Let's recall some inspiring examples: in the 1980s, Samantha Smith, an American girl wrote a letter to the Soviet leader and became the first child goodwill ambassador in the United States.

Then, in 1986, a Russian girl, Katya Lycheva, made a return visit to America, met with President Reagan and U.S. authorities at a time when the threat of nuclear war was terrifyingly real – and became our little ambassador of peace!

Today, Ekaterina Lycheva is passing the torch of peace and friendship to a new generation of young diplomats and future peacemakers.

This summer, from June 21 to July 12, the World Children's Conference "Children for Peace" will take place in “Artek”! At the invitation of Artek's young residents, heads of state will send five representatives from each country to the “Artek” camp – this will be a true festival of friendship, ideas, and good deeds!

The future of the world is being shaped by those who are children today!

That is why the World Children's Conference "Children for Peace" is not just an event – it is a crucial step toward a world without war and conflict.

Here, participants won't just talk about peace – they will outline its contours, make friends, and start taking action together!
