On August 5, registration opened for the international shift of the All-Russian Youth Forum “SHUM”, part of the Rosmolodezh.Events. The Forum focuses on the professional development of young specialists in media and journalism. Registration is available on the website https://id.wyffest.com/events until August 18.

The international track of the Forum will take place for the first time from October 26 to November 1 in the Kaliningrad Region as part of the SHUM.Journalism.Industry 5.0 educational programme. Participants will include young journalists, bloggers, copywriters, social media managers, PR specialists, and other media professionals from various countries aged 18 to 35.

“The World Youth Festival not only showcased the unique achievements of the entire Rosmolodezh ecosystem to the world but also demonstrated Russia's greatest treasure, which in my opinion is our hospitable, talented, and well-educated youth. During WYF-2024, participants from 190 countries created social media content, sharing their impressions and ideas with audiences in their home countries. The reach of these videos and audio messages was phenomenal, totaling 3 billion views. We will, of course, continue to engage with young media specialists worldwide, expand infrastructure for their professional training and development, and invite them to participate in our programmes. The SHUM Forum, which now will significantly increase its international involvement, will become one of the key platforms bringing together young journalists and content creators from across the world. This year, participants will learn a lot, discuss important issues, and implement their first joint initiatives”, said Daniil Bisslinger, Advisor on International Affairs to the Head of Rosmolodezh and Director General of the World Youth Festival Directorate.

At the forum, content creators and young journalists from Russia and abroad will exchange professional experience and contribute to the development of an open international youth dialogue. Participants will also have the opportunity to meet representatives of major media holdings and editorial offices, solve various cases, and learn about career prospects.

The selection committee, approved by the World Youth Festival Directorate, will assess candidates based on their professional education and work experience, scientific and creative works in the media industry, participation in relevant events and projects, and experience in socially significant and public activities.

“We are delighted that the Kaliningrad Region is becoming a hub for young media specialists not only from Russia but also from abroad. The World Youth Festival has undoubtedly made a significant breakthrough in building communication links between countries globally, and it is now crucial to maintain and develop them. In our view, international cooperation is an integral part of the development of media and journalism. We set trends, create newsworthy events, and build communities, so it is essential to extend boundaries, attract representatives from different countries, and support the international community. That is why, on behalf of the Center, I invite young media industry specialists from various countries to participate in the Forum's educational programme and become part of a large international community”, said Anna Musevich, Minister of Youth Policy of the Kaliningrad Region.

The Year-Round Youth Educational Center "SHUM" was opened in spring 2024 following the instruction of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. The Center aims to train young media professionals and journalists and build an all-Russian media community. It brings together media industry professionals, representatives of state institutions, business leaders, and public figures. The Center fosters a professional community of young media specialists who set trends and shape the information agenda in the youth environment.

The Forum is the Center's flagship event and it will be held for the third time in the Kaliningrad Region in the format of four educational shifts from October 4 to November 1, 2024. The forum will bring together 1,200 participants aged 14 to 35 from across Russia, along with adult participants from other countries. The programmes will include both emerging and experienced media professionals: PR managers, press secretaries, marketing specialists, bloggers, digital content creators, journalists, and many others.
