Prospects for Russian-Iranian Youth Cooperation Discussed in Moscow

On August 8, a series of meetings began between Daniil Bisslinger, Advisor on International Affairs to the Head of Rosmolodezh and Director General of the World Youth Festival Directorate, and heads of diplomatic missions. The first meeting was held with Kazem Jalali, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Russia.

The meeting participants discussed the prospects for Russian-Iranian youth cooperation. Daniil Bisslinger highlighted the post-festival work of the World Youth Festival Directorate and initiatives aimed at preserving the festival legacy and fostering the development of the international youth movement.

“The World Youth Festival 2024 gave an important impetus to the development of Russian-Iranian relations in the youth track. The Iranian delegation included over 80 participants. Our task is not only to maintain this positive dialogue but also to actively promote open and friendly communication between the youth of our countries. In this regard, we look to continue facilitating the participation of young leaders from Iran in all relevant programmes and events organized under the auspices of Rosmolodezh in the Russian Federation”, said Daniil Bisslinger.

Kazem Jalali noted that Russia and Iran share a common strategic framework. He highligted that youth play a crucial role in shaping the future of their nations, which is why Iran is ready to cooperate in the field of youth policy. The Ambassador stated that these days there are opportunities for developing bilateral youth cooperation between Russia and Iran.

The meeting participants also stressed the importance of regular youth exchanges, which would allow young people to learn about the culture, traditions, and history of their countries. 

 

Overview:

The World Youth Festival took place on March 1–7, 2024 in Sirius, according to the Decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the development of international youth cooperation. The WYF-2024 brought together 20,000 young leaders from 190 countries.

In the future, the World Youth Festival will become a platform for the development of a permanent international youth movement aimed at creating a just multipolar world. On the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation, the WYF will be held in Russia on a regular basis – once in six years. Also, every six years 10,000 young people from all over the world will get together at the International Youth Festival, and international themed gatherings and events will be held under the auspices of the WYF.

The World Youth Festival is organized by the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh). The WYF-2024 was operated by the World Youth Festival Directorate.
