On December 1, in Sukhum, the World Youth Festival Directorate concluded cooperation agreements with the Abkhaz State University and the "Team of Abkhazia" ANO. The signing took place on the day of the official opening of the World Youth Festival Directorate Representative Office in Abkhazia.
The signing ceremony was attended by Dmitry Ivanov, Director General of the World Youth Festival Directorate, Georgy Gabunia, Head of the "Team of Abkhazia" ANO, and Aleko Gvaramia, Rector of the Abkhaz State University.
"Today, we have signed two significant agreements with organizations that act as drivers of the youth policy in the Republic of Abkhazia. Our cooperation will help in identifying talented young people, promoting their ideas, and fostering meaningful communication between the new generations of Russia and Abkhazia. The World Youth Festival Directorate's representative office will serve as a platform for implementing joint initiatives and building a shared future," said Dmitry Ivanov, Director General of the World Youth Festival Directorate.
The signing of the agreements is an important step towards strengthening cooperation between Russia and Abkhazia in the fields of youth policy and education. Both agreements focus on developing partnership projects, supporting young people's initiatives, and creating opportunities for professional and cultural exchange. As a result, the parties intend to organize lectures, workshops, master classes, themed meetings, and cultural and educational programs. They also plan to promote the organization of internships, youth exchanges, and educational programs, as well as support socially significant initiatives, including grant projects.
The area of cooperation that will be discussed separately is the activities of the WYFD Representative Office at the Abkhaz State University. The agreements will create conditions for the launch of joint programs, scientific and educational events, and the involvement of youth associations in international projects. Leading youth organizations from Russia and Abkhazia have expressed their willingness to share their experiences and support the participation of young people in international cooperation.

The World Youth Festival took place on March 1–7, 2024 in Sirius, according to the Decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the development of international youth cooperation. The WYF-2024 brought together 20,000 young leaders from 190 countries. In accordance with the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin on preserving and developing the legacy of the World Youth Festival, which took place on the Sirius Federal Territory in 2024 and united 20,000 young people from 190 countries of the world, festival events on the territory of the Russian Federation will be held annually. The next World Youth Festival for 20,000 participants will be held in 2030. In 2026, there will be a smaller event, an International Youth Festival with 10,000 participants. In between, the World Youth Festival’s themed Assemblies will be held annually for 2,000 participants. The first World Youth Festival Assembly was held in Nizhny Novgorod from September 17 to 21, 2025 and brought together 2,000 young people from 120 countries. The World Youth Festival Directorate continues the work aimed at strengthening international youth cooperation.
