Registration for the 6th Youth Summit of Russia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) has closed. The Summit will take place from October 21 to 25, 2026, on the campus of Far Eastern Federal University in Vladivostok. The event follows from agreements reached at the anniversary Russia–ASEAN summit attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
During the application campaign, which ran from September 14 to October 5 on the International Platform of Opportunities of the World Youth Festival Directorate, 10,702 applications were received from all 11 ASEAN member states, as well as from 74 regions of Russia and Sirius Federal Territory. The number of applications from citizens of ASEAN member states exceeded the number from Russian citizens by 65%.
As many as 4,479 applications from candidates aged 18 to 35 who completed the competitive assignment were admitted to expert evaluation. Competition stood at around 38 applicants per place: the Summit will bring together 88 representatives of the 11 ASEAN member states and 30 representatives of Russia.
Each submission was assessed against five criteria: the candidate's experience, strength of argumentation, originality, relevance of the proposed youth initiative, and quality of development. One in four submissions scored 20 or more points out of a possible 25.
"More than 10,000 applications are convincing evidence that young people from Russia and ASEAN countries are eager for live dialogue and joint work. It is especially important that one in four submissions received a high expert rating: Vladivostok will welcome young people with well-thought-out initiatives, ready to develop Russia–ASEAN cooperation even after the Summit concludes," noted Artem Fomin, First Deputy General Director of the World Youth Festival Directorate.
The Russia–ASEAN Youth Summit is being held for the sixth time. The event is timed to the 35th anniversary of ASEAN–Russia relations and is held under the Comprehensive Plan of Action to implement the ASEAN–Russia Strategic Partnership, under the motto "Youth of Russia and ASEAN: A Dialogue of Cultures and the Creative Power of Progress."
The Summit's purpose is to review the key achievements of youth cooperation between Russia and ASEAN countries and to chart the path for its further development. The program includes thematic discussions and roundtables in four areas: international youth cooperation; the World Ocean and maritime civilizations; technology and artificial intelligence; and creative industries, as well as a cultural program with visits to Vladivostok's landmark sites. The event will conclude with the signing of a Declaration setting out the shared principles and strategic directions for developing youth cooperation between ASEAN member states and Russia.
The Summit is organized by the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education and Far Eastern Federal University, with the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs playing a coordinating role. The World Youth Festival Directorate is a partner of the Summit.
