Teenagers from Across the World to Take Part in the Meeting of the International Association of Children’s Organizations in Moscow
From May 31 to June 3, the International Festival of the Movement of the First will feature the Meeting of the International Association of Children's Organizations coordinated by the World Youth Festival Directorate. The idea to create this organization emerged during the World Youth Festival 2024 and became its legacy. Its goal is to bring together communities of children's and youth organizations from various countries and provide a platform for discussing international youth initiatives. Teenagers from over 40 countries are invited to participate in the Meeting of the International Association of Children's Organizations, including France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Brazil, Hungary, Serbia, Moldova, Belarus, Bangladesh, Bahrain, Georgia, Algeria, Mexico, India, Morocco, Kuwait, Abkhazia, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Cyprus, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, North Macedonia, Mongolia, Pakistan, Uganda, Gabon, Peru, and others.
On May 31, the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) will host a session for international teenagers where they will learn about academic opportunities for foreign students at Russia's leading universities. Daniil Bisslinger, Director General of the World Youth Festival Directorate, will speak about strengthening international youth dialogue and the importance of engaging with young people from abroad in the field of higher education in Russia. Olga Petrova, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia, will present the country's modern higher education system, highlighting key directions and prospects for international academic and scientific exchange. Grigory Gurov, Chairman of the Board of the Russian Movement of Children and Youth “Movement of the First”, will give a talk about projects aimed at engaging foreign youth audiences. Additionally, MGIMO Vice-Rector for Youth Policy, Social Work, and International Relations Stanislav Surovtsev, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs at the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (RUDN) Mikhail Katsarsky, and representatives of Rossotrudnichestvo will discuss academic opportunities at leading Russian universities.
Meeting participants will also have a chance to interact with Russian and international students at the university, while representatives of Brazil, Mexico, and Uzbekistan will donate books to the MGIMO’s library. In the evening, international teenagers will be introduced to the All-Russian Student Project “Your Move” and experience student life in Russia through an interactive format.
June 1, International Children's Day, will feature the Opening Ceremony of the International Festival of the Movement of the First, along with an expert session featuring Maria Lvova-Belova, Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights. Additionally, participants will attend cultural and exhibition programmes, discussions, public debates, master classes, and the Parade of Russia’s Regions as part of the International Festival of the Movement of the First.
On June 2, the participants will summarize the results of the Meeting. In a strategic session, they will discuss areas of work of the International Association of Children's Organizations and explore opportunities for integrating the international children’s movement into the current list of projects aimed at preserving the legacy of this year’s World Youth Festival.
On the same day, participants will also tour the Russia Expo, attend the closing ceremony of the International Festival of the Movement of the First, and enjoy a concert.
Overview:
The World Youth Festival took place on March 1–7, 2024 in Sirius, according to the Decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the development of international youth cooperation. The WYF-2024 brought together 20,000 young leaders from 190 countries.
In the future, the World Youth Festival will become a platform for the development of a permanent international youth movement aimed at creating a just multipolar world. The WYF will be held in Russia on a regular basis – once in six years. Also, every six years 10,000 young people from all over the world will get together at the International Youth Festival, and international themed gatherings and events will be held under the auspices of the WYF.
The World Youth Festival is organized by the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh). The WYF-2024 was operated by the World Youth Festival Directorate.
