In 2025, the InteRussia international internship program is being held for the first time with the support of the World Youth Festival Directorate. Launched in 2021, the project brings together young professionals from different countries, giving them access to work with leading experts from major research centers, universities, and the Russian media. IT experts and journalists from various countries have already arrived in the country as part of the program, which is being implemented jointly with the World Youth Festival Directorate.
"The World Youth Festival Directorate has already supported two internships – for young journalists and IT specialists. The program for IT engineers will start on August 31. In total, we ensure the participation of more than 40 young professionals in Russian educational programs. Such exchange allows us to attract promising young specialists to the country, and also provide an opportunity to evaluate our projects through global trends. Returning to their home countries, young specialists will bring not only professional experience, but also impressions of Russia, an understanding of its scientific and technical potential. Through internships, we are expanding our network of partners and friends, who tomorrow will become a bridge for breakthrough ideas and joint solutions," noted Dmitry Ivanov, Director General of the World Youth Festival Directorate.
Leading organizations have become the main platform for internships in the field of journalism, information technology and engineering: the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology, Novosibirsk State University, as well as the international RT TV channel.
Within the program's framework, foreigners get acquainted with the Russian scientific and expert agenda, meet with leading Russian researchers, visit government agencies and industrial enterprises, as well as enhance their professional skills through trainings and worlshop and share experience with colleagues from all over the world.
For example, journalists from the Middle East and North Africa worked for a month under the guidance of leading experts from Russia Today Arabic and took part at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2025), where they recorded reports and interviews for their TV channels.
"The InteRussia internship has become a truly unforgettable experience, both professionally and personally. It gave me valuable opportunities for learning, cultural exchange and networking that will stay with me for a long time," Reem Hani, a journalist at Al-Akhbar, shared her impressions of the internship.
Foreign specialists who undergo an internship in engineering at Novosibirsk State University studied in the following areas: "Artificial Intelligence in Medicine" and "Modern quantum and Information technologies in electronics and Photonics", having developed and presented the results of scientific projects.
"The InteRussia internship has become a valuable and professionally rewarding experience for me. It provided an opportunity to immerse in cutting–edge topics of quantum and information technology, as well as to get to know Russian academic and cultural life from the inside," said Said Shaban, an intern at Jindal Power Plant.
Participants of the internship for foreign specialists in scientific, technical and engineering fields, starting at the end of August, will have the opportunity to participate in the Innovation Workshop— an intensive course on technological entrepreneurship. The event will be aimed at developing practical skills in rapid prototyping and implementing innovative solutions in real conditions.
The InteRussia internship program is conducted by the ANO "Mezhdunarodniki" with the support of the Presidential Grants Foundation, the Gorchakov Foundation, the World Youth Festival Directorate and Rossotrudnichestvo.
