On September 15, as part of the International Festival of Youth, letters of appreciation from Olga Lyubimova, Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation, were presented to active members of the “Youth in Culture” community. The awards recognized youth councils of institutions under the Russian Ministry of Culture and regional executive bodies in this field — for their contribution to developing youth initiatives, implementing cultural projects, and involving young people in the country’s cultural life. The letters of appreciation were presented by Sergei Novikov, Chief of the Presidential Directorate for Social Projects, and Sergei Pershin, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation.
“It is deeply symbolic that today we recognize your contribution to culture at the International Festival of Youth. This means your initiatives and professional work are not only in demand within your region but also receive high praise at the international level. Behind each of you, there are concrete projects, bold ideas, and responsibility for the future of Russian culture,” noted Sergei Novikov.
Ten youth councils received letters of appreciation: those of the State Historical Museum, the Museum of Contemporary History of Russia, the Agency for the Management and Use of Historical and Cultural Monuments, the State Museum of the History of Religion, the State Museum-Preserve “Tauric Chersonese”, the Ministry of Culture of the Novosibirsk Region, the Ministry of Culture of the Krasnoyarsk Krai, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bashkortostan, and the Ministry of Culture, Nationalities and Archival Affairs of the Chuvash Republic.
“Our youth are a very active community in cultural sphere. They don’t just propose ideas but take on responsibility and deliver specific projects. This is especially visible here, at the International Festival of Youth. Yesterday, an exhibition dedicated to the fight against Nazism opened, created with the participation of young cultural figures, and performances by creative groups from our youth councils were included in the Festival’s Cultural Program. It matters to us that you are not only participants but also organizers of the Cultural Program of the International Festival,” noted Sergei Pershin.
On the stage of the Russian Ministry of Culture in the Cultural Code exhibition space, a concert titled “Songs of the Peoples of Russia” was held, prepared by youth councils of the Ministry of Culture of the Sverdlovsk Region and the Ekaterinburg Opera and Ballet Theater. Representatives of the youth branch of the All-Russian Theater Society held a team “Theater Quiz” for Festival participants. The Youth Council of the Museum of Contemporary History of Russia took part in preparing and running the exhibition “Catastrophe of Memory. Neo-Nazism in the 21st Century” which tells the story of Nazism and the threat of its revival in the modern world.
Today, the “Youth in Culture” community brings together more than 4,000 young people from across the country. It includes 89 youth councils of regional executive bodies in the field of culture, 78 youth councils of institutions under the Russian Ministry of Culture, and 55 student councils of educational organizations under the Ministry.
The community is headed by the Youth Council of the Russian Ministry of Culture. It is chaired by Ksenia Artemyeva, General Director of ANO Tavrida.Art and Program Director of the International Festival of Youth.
