International Tournament Co-Organized by India, Russia and Uzbekistan in Collaboration with WYF Directorate

India hosted the International Belt Wrestling Cup. The championship was organized by the international project office of the World Youth Festival Directorate in India, and Pathway Global Alliance, with support from the Government of Bashkortostan, the Russian Embassy in India, the WYF Directorate and the Government of Haryana State.

The Indian city of Rohtak brought together more than 500 athletes from India, Russia and Uzbekistan. The opening ceremony featured traditional dances and musical performances from India and Russia, creating an atmosphere of friendship and unity.

Russian athletes won 8 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze medals, Indian athletes claimed 1 gold, 13 silver and 21 bronze medals, while wrestlers from Uzbekistan took home 12 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze medals.

In addition, Darya Zlydar, representative of the International Cooperation Department of the WYF Directorate, held meetings with Indian sports officials, representatives of Haryana State, and the Russian Embassy in India. She presented plans for the World Youth Festival Assembly, which is scheduled to take place in Nizhny Novgorod in September 2025. The Indian side confirmed its willingness to participate in the event. Moreover, Maharishi Dayanand University, which hosted the International Belt Wrestling Cup, expressed readiness to host future events featuring Russian athletes.

 

Overview:

The World Youth Festival took place on March 1–7, 2024 in Sirius, according to the Decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the development of international youth cooperation. The WYF-2024 brought together 20,000 young leaders from 190 countries.

On the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation, the WYF will be held in Russia on a regular basis – once in six years. Also, every six years 10,000 young people from all over the world will get together at the World Youth Festival Forum, and in between, international themed assemblies for 2,000 participants will be held under the auspices of the WYF. The first Assembly is scheduled to take place in September 2025 in Nizhny Novgorod. Festival events of various formats will be held in Russia annually.

According to the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation on the preservation and development of the Festival legacy, the World Youth Festival Directorate continues the work aimed at strengthening international youth cooperation.
