A unique educational course for 50 foreign media specialists has come to an end at the World Youth Festival Assembly held on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation. Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, familiarized himself with the work of the platform.
The three-day intensive course was conducted by the World Youth Festival Directorate in conjunction with the New Media Workshop, an educational program for experienced media specialists created by ANO Dialogue and Senezh Management Workshop as part of the presedential platform “Russia – Country of Opportunities”. Following the training, foreign bloggers formed a permanent community for sharing experiences, learning, and producing and promoting content about Russia aimed at a young audience.
"For several years in a row, we have seen growing interest in the tools and approaches used in the Russian media environment from the professional community in other countries. I am confident that Russia has something to be proud of here – platforms, a support system for content creators and, of course, a system of professional standards and training. Our media standards are of interest both to experienced foreign media specialists who come to the main training courses offered by the New Media Workshop, including representatives from 11 countries, and to young people from dozens of countries who have completed the intensive training. And our international activities are not limited to this. For example, at the competition for selection for training in the New Media of Abkhazia program, which ended a few days ago, based on the Workshop's standards and with the participation of experts from Russia, there were more than 10 applicants per place," Yulia Ablets, Deputy General Director of ANO “Dialog Regions” and founder of the New Media Workshop, says.
The main focus of the training was on trends in the modern media sphere, as well as the specifications of Russian platforms. Under the guidance of Russian media experts and experts from the Global Fact-Checking Network (GFCN), participants learned how to create trending content, mastered working with neural networks, and learned methods for fact-checking in different cultural and linguistic environments.
"The content center created as a result of the WYF Directorate will serve not only for the continuous exchange of experience and professional growth of media specialists, but also for the dissemination of positive content among foreign youth aimed at promoting the ideas of preserving historical memory, traditional values, equality of states, and a multipolar world," Dmitry Ivanov, General Director of the World Youth Festival Directorate, says.
Among the speakers at the event were Lily Ong, GFCN expert, geopolitics and cybersecurity analyst at Geopolitics360, Alexander Skatsky, neural network expert and head of the targeting department at ANO “Dialog Regions”, and other experts.
"Your freedom of speech must be protected, but it can also be restricted if it affects the security of the state and its citizens. It is important to protect society from such threats. It is the duty of every country to combat fakes," Alexandre Guerreiro, program expert , PhD in international law from Portugal, says.
