“The World Youth Festival demonstrated the global demand for international cooperation among young people. The World Youth City became a platform that brought together 20,000 young leaders from 190 countries. It is clear that this international dialogue needs to be developed and strengthened. The Russia’s regions will continue working with countries and young people, inviting their foreign friends to Russian events and participating in foreign projects. The first International Friendship Clubs have already been launched and by the end of September, they will open in 55 regions of our country. Under the programme, a total of 90 Clubs will be established in all subjects of Russia and on the Sirius Federal Territory”, said Daniil Bisslinger, Director General of the World Youth Festival Directorate.
The International Friendship Clubs will become a permanent platform for communication between youth from foreign countries and Russia. Participants will develop cultural and educational exchanges, as well as design and implement joint projects in science, culture, sports, and education. For example, representatives of Russian and foreign youth will conduct international language webinars, master classes, and interviews with opinion leaders from various countries, participate in volunteer activities, create joint platforms for information exchange, attracting new participants, engaging in communication, and much more. The Clubs' work will be organized along five tracks: Media, Entrepreneurship, Civic Engagement, Regional Specifics, and Community.
According to the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the International Friendship Clubs followed the Cultural Partnership programme, under which each foreign delegation at the World Youth Festival 2024 was assigned a Russian region to help representatives of foreign delegations get a closer look at the history, traditions, and culture of the Russian people. Over 280 joint events were held together with foreign delegations as part of this programme.
